Since arriving in the Algarve 1985, Willie has maintained an enviable position as one of Algarve`s outstanding chefs. His string of accolades is well deserved as Willie is a perfectionist, dedicated to his profession and passionate about food.
Born in Germany, he grew up with a family who placed great emphasis on food and who helped kindle his interest at a young age when he helped in the kitchen.
Willie`s formal training was at the Hotel School in Passau and after several years as a trainee Chef in different one and two Stars-Michelin Restaurants around Germany, it was offered him the position of Executive Chef in a Relais&Chateaux
Hotel La Reserve in the Algarve. After two years he went back to take his Master Chef Diploma in the Bavarian Hotel School.
During his eight years at La Reserve he was crowned with a Michelin Star in 1989. At this Time the first for the Algarve.
Moving on to Rest.Sao Gabriel soon this became a highly successful establishment with have be horned also with a Michelin Star just 2 Years later.
After seven years, Willie opened together with his wife Laila, his own Restaurant in Vilamoura in a quiet residential Area closed to the Pinhal Golf Course.
This charming Restaurant set high standards in Food and Service in a beautiful Atmosphere.
Willie’s energy and enthusiasm know no bounds and he continues to impress both locals and tourists alike with his exceptional talent and his own unique style of modern international cuisine.
For the Year 2006 I was awarded with 1 Star for Willie´s (the 3rd Star in different Restaurants), in the Algarve.
But this was my proudest because it`s my Own Restaurant and I`m responsible for everything. And since, we kept it, which is every Year a big achieves.
